#063 SO CUTE SNOWMEN

I originally designed one of these ornaments and painted it on a resin sand dollar and wanted to make it available as a pattern and ended up designing two more ornaments to go with it!  Don't these just make you smile?  These (I think) are really so cute and I hope you think so too!

#065 STACKED PUMPKINS

I came across a few of these wonderful old metal trays and picked them up.  When I got home I was thinking of what I could do with these.  Of course the first thought was “paint them” and the second thought was Fall and pumpkins, and leaves and berries!  It didn’t hurt that had just harvested my pumpkins and it was a very good year for pumpkins!  I used a set of leaf stencils I have (information is included with the pattern) but they of course can be hand traced for this pattern.

#066 NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

This is a painting pattern and not a finished product.

This piece came directly out of my childhood memory of the night before Christmas when our Mom would read this wonderful book to us right before bedtime.  I found this wonderful surface that looked like a stamp to me and thought it would be just perfect. The surface is a wood composite. The house mouse is all tucked in with presents and popcorn under his bead and through the mouse hole to the living room you can see that everything is all ready for Santa to come down the chimney.  Looks like the house mouse also helped himself to a bite of cookie!  This was a fun piece to create and I hope it brings happy memories to you as well!

#067 WINTERS EVE

A starlit winter’s evening with a full moon shining down upon a quaint New England village with lots of snow and a stray whale cruising by…..the idea of this cooled me right down (was a very hot day).  One of the benefits of designing and painting for me is that I get to escape into my own little world. I don’t always know where I am going but the journey is always fun and rewarding.

CHICKS IN BOOTS (#071)

I found this adorable green enamel pail, spring was on its way and I thought the pail would be wonderful with spring chicks in red boots! There are three designs for the chicks and these can be scattered in whichever way you choose.  A pail or container of any size can be used!  If you have a container that you want to paint and then add the chicks, that can be done!  The green color of my enamel pail is very close to DecoArt Hauser Medium Green.

This is my original design, one of which I hope you like!

#070 A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

I was inspired to design these ornaments after hearing one of the songs from the Sound of Music, My Favorite Things, written by Richard Rodgers.   I decided to use the star cut out shapes as they are readily available and usually very low cost.  The front and back of each star is painted and stenciled which is a feature I really like – an extra step, but really nice!

FROM GHOSTIES AND GHOULIES MIRROR (#068)

I first came across this Scottish nighttime prayer in a very small gift shop near Seattle, Washington and it stuck with me for all these many years.  It was a small piece of wood with lots of decoratively painted flowers on it.  I was in IKEA recently and saw these wonderful square mirrors and immediately thought of the saying with a painted night scene, a candle in the window of a red house, plenty of stars and plenty of fireflies in the tree tops.  I thought it would be especially sweet in a child’s room but I could see it in any room.  Of course, there is always a "Halloween angle" to this as well (ghosts, ghouls, oh my!). This is an original design.

I have always loved lambs/sheep and when designing Christmas tree ornaments, the first thing I thought of was how do I incorporate sheep into the designs.  This is what I came up with.

All of my MELT and POUR soaps are being sold through SHOP JOBIE and their link is shopjobie.com

COFFEE GROUND COLD PROCESS REBATCHED HAND SOAP

#001 COFFEE GROUND COLD PROCESS REBATCHED HAND SOAP

The smell of coffee first thing in the morning is what gets me up and moving.  To have the ability to reproduce that scent in a bar of soap is amazing.  This soap does just that!

This is what they call a "rebatched" soap.  I made my first loaf of coffee soap and it was a really dark brown so I decided I would rebatch it which entailed chopping the soap in my food processor and then adding the rebatched soap with a basic soap recipe scented with Latte, a fragrance oil.  In the photo you can see a darker pieces (from the rebatched) soap and a lighter base (the new soap).  The scent is amazing!!

The ingredients for the soap are distilled water, lye, coconut oil, olive oil and shea butter; as well as cooled brewed coffee and coffee grounds, and the fragrance oil used was Latte.

Each bar weighs approximately 4.5 oz.

On a personal note, I keep a bar of this soap near my sink and use it after I have chopped onions and it seems to wash off the smell. The coffee grounds add a bit of an abrasive quality to the soap, good on dirty hands!

#002 BROWN SUGAR PUMPKIN COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

FALL is in the air!  I just noticed the changing of the leaves this week and they are changing every day!

This soap is inspired by everything Fall - the falling leaves, homemade soup, chili, pumpkins in the fields and gardens, and Halloween as well as Thanksgiving rapidly approaching!  The scent of the bar is enticing - brown sugar and pumpkin and the color reminds me of fresh baked pumpkin pie!

The soap is made of coconut oil, palm oil (self-sustained), olive oil, castor oil, distilled water, lye, pumpkin puree, Brown Sugar Pumpkin fragrance oil and Copper Sparkle mica.  The last ingredient is that each bar of soap is made with lots of love!

The weight of each bar is approximately 4.5 ounces.

WATERMELON COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

#004 WATERMELON COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Watermelon soap, what?  Yes, it is a watermelon soap!  First of all, the scent on this is delightful.  I make a point of trying each and every soap I make.  This is the current soap in the house, and it is so good.  Definitely one of my husband's favorites.  It is a more difficult soap to make with the 3 layers of colors.  I admit the white layer because it is the thinnest was a challenge for me.  The bottom layer is made of two different greens. The middle is a white layer and the top layer is so cool. It even has embedded watermelon seeds throughout this layer.  The embeds are made from a soap dough I made.  On top of the sculpted top are more watermelon seeds as well as starry ecological glitter.

The seed embeds go all the way through the soap, from first wash to the last!

This soap is made with olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, distilled water, lye and a combination of two fragrance oils, Cucumber Melon and Black Raspberry Vanilla. Magenta mica was the colorant as well as Woodland Green and Lime Green Mojito.

Approximate weight of each bar is 3.6 ounces.

#003 BATTY PUMPKIN CARDAMOM COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

I love to learn different techniques for making soap whether it is melt and pour, cold process or hot process soap.  The method of making soap dough for embeds (which uses a basic cold process recipe but more hands on with smooshing the soap and yes that is how they describe it) and keeping it well wrapped so it does not dry out.  The dough can be formed into components using small molds or large molds and even an extruder to form the soap dough into shapes such as I have used for this hand soap (tiny bats). I have made 2 batches of this soap.  On the first one, the bats were in a row at the bottom of the soap and the other batch the bats decided to move around the soap bar.  I love both styles and cannot take credit for the formation in either soap!

The bat embeds in this soap bar through each soap bar, not placed on top!

The soap batch is made of olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, lye, distilled water, Pumpkin Cardamom fragrance oil, pumpkin puree, copper sparkle mica, red Moroccan clay, pineapple mica, bat embeds required premade soap dough with black mica colorant and lots of love!

Estimated weight of each bar of soap is 4.4 ounces.

I have already quite a few of these and have had great reviews and tons of smiles when the bats are seen in the soap!

#005 PUMPKIN AND STARS COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

This is another adventure with soap dough and embeds.  I pictured a dark blue night sky as the back drop with 3 tiny white stars in the sky.  In the center is a big orange pumpkin with 2 shades of green for the stem.  The embeds are premade with soap dough which is made from soap batter and then colored and placed in an air tight container for a few days and then manipulated by introducing heat into the dough which loosens up and becomes malleable to shape.  I was lucky to have a pumpkin mold to premake the pumpkin and then add a formed stem on the top as well as to extrude the 3 white stars.  Both of these embeds go the entire length of the soap loaf and the design is present in most stages of use (there may be a delay for the stars on one side as the embeds sometimes shift but it should appear soon after using the bar.

The ingredients for this soap are:  Olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, distilled water, lye, Cardamom Pumpkin fragrance oil; Orange, white, and 2 green micas for coloring.  Each bar is made with lots of love.

Estimated weight of each soap bar is 4.8 ounces.
