COLD PROCESS SOAP

Cold process soapmaking method entails mixing lye water with a fat or oil (such as olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil or soap butters such as mango butter, shea butter, etc.).  These substances are mixed together until the "batter" thicks up and the batter is placed into a mold where it is covered with a towel and the soap goes through a gel phase (it heats up) and then cools down after about 1-2 days and the soap is unmolded, cut and placed on a drying rack and turned frequently to cure.  After about 4-6 weeks of curing, it is ready to be used.

Info provided by my experience and from soap makers such as Edens Garden and The Nova Studio.

#011 SEA SHELLS COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Sea shells, see shells down by the sea shore was running through my mind as I was thinking about what kind of soap did I want to make and this is what I came up with.  I had a bunch of white soap dough that I used to make some sea shells to place on top of each bar and some nice biodegradable glitter to sprinkle on top and I got to work!

I premade sea shells out of homemade soap dough which has similar ingredients to the soap base I used.

Ingredients used were Olive oil, coconut oil, olive oil, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, shea butter, titanium dioxide, Sea Glass fragrance oil, biodegradable glitter and lots of love!

Estimated weight of each soap bar is 3.9 ounces

#012 JACK O'LANTERN SWIRL COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Oh my goodness, this soap exceeded my expectations and I am so pleased with it!  I was looking for the last soap to complete my Halloween/Fall season and this is the way I wanted to finish up.  In my mind I pictured a jack O'Lantern sitting in the middle of the top of the soap with a Halloweeny color scheme and here we are!  When the soap was first taken out of the soap loaf and cut, I built up the middle of each soap and placed a premade soap dough Jack O'Lantern piece with careful mounding up the pumpkin on all sides while the soap was still soft.

Then we have the swirls.  I am still learning about swirls and these swirls are so awesome and so fit in with the color scheme and the Jack O'Lanterns.  I am so excited and I hope you are too!

This soap has been cut and will be released for sale on September 25, 2024.  Please send me an email (thesunflowercupboard@gmail.com) if you would like to be on the order list for this soap),

The ingredients for this soap are as follows:  Olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, black and orange mica colorants, and scented with Witches Brew fragrance oil and lots of love!

Estimated weight of each soap bar is 4.4 ounces.

#018 COPPER MINE COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

I just received a new mica colorant, called Ectoplasm, and I just love it and could not wait to make some soap with it.  It is a rich turquoise/aqua blue.  I did not want to do just a plain soap bar but I thought a jagged pencil line near the midline would look great.  To me it would be like a finding a vein of copper or gold.  The sparkly copper mica I have was my first choice.   The pencil line looks dark in the photo but it is clearly a shiny copper line! I hope you like my choice!  I left the top of the soap really jagged.

These bars are made with top quality ingredients. The ingredients used were olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, mica colorants used were Ectoplasm and Copper Sparkle.  The scent i used was Honey Patchouli fragrance oil and these soap bars are made with LOTS OF LOVE!

Average weight of each soap bar is 4.7 ounces.

Shipping charges are per bar of soap.

Feel free to come back and visit me anytime as new soaps and products will be added from time to time.

#009 CHRISTMAS TREE CLAY ORNAMENT

Christmas is coming! I love this time of the year, don't you?

I designed, shaped and hand painted each Christmas tree and then sealed each with a glossy varnish and attached baker's twine to each ornament.  Wouldn't this be a sweet gift for a teacher, daycare person or so many other suggestions!

The trees measure 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide.

Great care will be taken to ensure that the ornament arrives at its destination in one piece.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

#020 FROSTED CRANBERRY COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Christmas is coming!  I love this time of the year!  There is something magical when we have the first full frost.  Everything looks like it has been dusted with fairy dust!  Having spent 10 years in Cape Cod within a short walk of some cranberry bogs, was pretty interesting especially to see the different seasons, the bogs being flooded and the berries being harvested.

I really wanted to do something that incorporated cranberries and frost and this is what I came up with.  I decided to do a soap bar loaded with soap dough cranberries and leaves with the inside of the soap swirled with the green and cranberry color in the off-white soap color.  The soap loaf was then dusted with Snowflake Sparkle which I think did a great job looking like frost!

The ingredients used were olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sodium hydroxide, distilled water and scented with Fresh Snow fragrance oil.  Such a crisp wintery scent!  The soap dough was made with the same ingredients as well as cranberry coloring and green coloring for the leaves.  The last item is added to all of the soap bars that I make - LOTS OF LOVE!

Average weight of each soap bar is approximately 4.3 ounces.

Shipping charges are per soap bar.

#021 CONVERSATION HEART SOAP HAND SOAP

Conversation heart candies....do they even still exist?  So much fun to pass them along to your friends with such cute sayings as Love, Be Mine and many many more.

I found a mold for the tiny hearts (about the same size as the candy version) and made a bucket full in all the colors as I remembered them.  These were made with melt and pour soap base and colored appropriately and scented them with Black Raspberry and Vanilla fragrance oil.  I then found an appropriately good soap bar size mold and a very clear soap base and I let the fun begin!  They really are unique and as you wash your hands, new colors will be shown.

Average weight of each soap bar is 5 ounces.

Shipping charges are per soap bar

Please note....this is a Melt and Pour soap but I have chosen to group this in with my Cold Process soaps as I will eventually be grouping these all together.  I basically just wanted to be able to present these to all of you before Valentine's Day!
