#050 GOOSE GIRLS

Spring has to be right around the corner, at least I hope so.  I designed this last winter and in the interim also made a video and figured I should release the e-pattern if nothing else than to scare the cold weather away.  What could be more peaceful than a trio of country girls walking their trio of geese to market?  Well, not ready to leave well enough alone, I had to add some frolicking sheep in the background.  It was a fun piece to design and to paint and I am hoping you have some fun with it also.  Would be so cute in a little girl's room or a "powder room" or anyplace you choose to place it.

This pattern and a video were released back in 2015 or 2016 (not sure).

This is an e-pattern and not a finished product.  Upon completion of the sale, you will receive notice that the pattern is ready to be downloaded to your computer at a time that is best for you.

#051 FORGET ME NOTS AND SUNFLOWERS

Memories of spring and summer are always full of forget-me-nots and sunflowers.  I found a cute little paper mache suitcase that fit the design I had in mind and I even added a sunflower inside the suitcase for whimsy.  Everywhere I have had a garden I have had sunflowers and naturally this little red-headed gardener has her sunflower patch as well.

The forget-me-nots are a wonderful memory I have of my sweet sister-in-love, Maureen.  I sent her a bunch of seeds when I was living in Maine and she returned the favor and sent me some of her seeds from Washington State to me in Minnesota.  I love an area carpeted with the lovely blue blossoms they produce.  These will be first seeds I sow this spring.

This was a fun piece to design and paint.  Of course, it can be painted on any surface you choose in case you cannot find a paper mache suitcase.

This patterrn was published in Pixelated Palette in October of 2016.

#057 FRUITS OF SUMMER

Ahhh…the fruits of summer! Although all these fruits are available year round, there is just something refreshing about watermelon on a hot day! What better welcome could there be than strawberries, juicy grapes, fresh sliced peaches, and my favorite, fresh picked wild Maine blueberries! I tried to capture all these fruits at their peak of summer ripeness.

This pattern was published in Pixelated Palette in May of 2016.

#059 NEW ENGLAND COASTAL VILLAGE SHELF

I lived in New England (Downeast Maine and Cape Cod) for over 24 years and fell in love with everything about the area – the architecture, the people, the scenery, the food, etc.  I found this piece of wood and just started designing.  I actually named the lobster shop after a wonderful lobsterman/friend!  The piece itself is a peg rack which actually adds to its usefulness and value.

A wonderful friend, talented artist and wood work genius, Sheila Bergner-Landry, can provide the surface for this piece

Measurements:  Height (from tip of mast to bottom of peg section is 20 1/2” tall and 16” wide (approximate measurements).

This pattern was published in Pixelated Palette in June 2016.

#062 MASONS JARS FOR THE SEASONS

I have long been drawn to cobalt blue glassware.  I had some wooden Mason jar ornament cut outs and put the two ideas together and came up with a cobalt blue Mason jar for each of the four seasons.  This was a fun project and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

This is my original design.  This piece was published in Painting E-Zine in January of 2018.

FROM GHOSTIES AND GHOULIES MIRROR (#068)

I first came across this Scottish nighttime prayer in a very small gift shop near Seattle, Washington and it stuck with me for all these many years.  It was a small piece of wood with lots of decoratively painted flowers on it.  I was in IKEA recently and saw these wonderful square mirrors and immediately thought of the saying with a painted night scene, a candle in the window of a red house, plenty of stars and plenty of fireflies in the tree tops.  I thought it would be especially sweet in a child’s room but I could see it in any room.  Of course, there is always a "Halloween angle" to this as well (ghosts, ghouls, oh my!). This is an original design.

This pattern was published in Painting E-Zine in the July 2018 issue.

WATERMELON COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

#004 WATERMELON COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Watermelon soap, what?  Yes, it is a watermelon soap!  First of all, the scent on this is delightful.  I make a point of trying each and every soap I make.  This is the current soap in the house, and it is so good.  Definitely one of my husband's favorites.  It is a more difficult soap to make with the 3 layers of colors.  I admit the white layer because it is the thinnest was a challenge for me.  The bottom layer is made of two different greens. The middle is a white layer and the top layer is so cool. It even has embedded watermelon seeds throughout this layer.  The embeds are made from a soap dough I made.  On top of the sculpted top are more watermelon seeds as well as starry ecological glitter.

The seed embeds go all the way through the soap, from first wash to the last!

This soap is made with olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, distilled water, lye and a combination of two fragrance oils, Cucumber Melon and Black Raspberry Vanilla. Magenta mica was the colorant as well as Woodland Green and Lime Green Mojito.

Approximate weight of each bar is 3.6 ounces.

#007 CALENDULA COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

As a gardener, I always planted calendula in my flower garden. The mix of yellow and orange blossoms was always a striking combination.  I had read that the dried petals could be put into soap both as a coloring agent and as an herb.  I have a bunch of dried calendula and chopped the dried blossoms up and used them in a batch of soap!  It provided a very soft pale yellow color to the soap.

The soap is made of sodium hydroxide, distilled water, dried calendula petals, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, castor oil, Garden party fragrance oil and lots of love!

Estimated weight of each soap bar is 4.5 ounces.

#010 PALE NEON SWIRL COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

This bar of soap takes my breath away.  It swirls in all directions - side to side, crossways and diagonally.  The colors are a combination of neon colorants that were softy muted but they are mesmerizing.  It is a smaller bar but time consuming with this swirl.

The ingredients are as follows:  Sodium hydroxide, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, distilled water, titanium dioxide, Neon mica pigments of blue, hot pink and House Party Purple; Garden Party fragrance oil and Into the Mystic biodegradable glitter and lots of love!

Estimated weight for each soap bar is 2.8 ounces.

#011 SEA SHELLS COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Sea shells, see shells down by the sea shore was running through my mind as I was thinking about what kind of soap did I want to make and this is what I came up with.  I had a bunch of white soap dough that I used to make some sea shells to place on top of each bar and some nice biodegradable glitter to sprinkle on top and I got to work!

I premade sea shells out of homemade soap dough which has similar ingredients to the soap base I used.

Ingredients used were Olive oil, coconut oil, olive oil, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, shea butter, titanium dioxide, Sea Glass fragrance oil, biodegradable glitter and lots of love!

Estimated weight of each soap bar is 3.9 ounces

COPPER MINE COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

#018 COPPER MINE COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

I just received a new mica colorant, called Ectoplasm, and I just love it and could not wait to make some soap with it.  It is a rich turquoise/aqua blue.  I did not want to do just a plain soap bar but I thought a jagged pencil line near the midline would look great.  To me it would be like a finding a vein of copper or gold.  The sparkly copper mica I have was my first choice.   The pencil line looks dark in the photo but it is clearly a shiny copper line! I hope you like my choice!  I left the top of the soap really jagged.

These bars are made with top quality ingredients. The ingredients used were olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, mica colorants used were Ectoplasm and Copper Sparkle.  The scent i used was Honey Patchouli fragrance oil and these soap bars are made with LOTS OF LOVE!

Average weight of each soap bar is 4.7 ounces.

Shipping charges are per bar of soap.

Feel free to come back and visit me anytime as new soaps and products will be added from time to time.

#022 SUNFLOWER COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

This should come as no surprise to anyone but I love sunflowers!  I chose The Sunflower Cupboard as the name of my business and I have painted many many items with sunflowers!  Also, when I had a garden, I planted lots of sunflowers!

I wanted to make the soap a little extra special so I created a sunflower and leaf out of soap dough which I also made.

It is scented with Vetiver fragrance oil, which is a complex scent and just lovely!

This soap would be a wonderful gift for a gardener (novice or expert) or of course anyone who just loves sunflowers, teachers, coworkers, family members....they sky is the limit!!

I live in an apartment now and get compliments on how nice it is to go past my door and enjoy whiffs of whatever soap I have just made and of course, my apartment always is delightfully scented!

CARROT CAKE COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

#024 CARROT CAKE COLD PROCESS HAND SOAP

Oh, yes....this is definitely a bakery-inspired soap...carrot cake!  This was a fun piece to work on.  I created the carrots out of homemade soap dough (who knew there was such a thing?).  There is of course a layer of cream cheese frosting on top with a cake layer under that with little specks provided by vanilla bean powder.  The scent is Cinnamon as I always think of carrot cake as being not just yummy but a bit of a scent cinnamon as well.

Soap making has become a passion of mine, not just the many choices for scents but to expand on what soap can look like.  I do love the traditional looking soap but I do love a challenge!  I hope you do too!

Please do consider soap as a great gift opportunity especially as the Holiday Season is upon us - teacher gift, coworker gift, stocking stuffers....the list can go on!

Please stop by and visit with me often as I am adding soaps all year round especially now that I have unpacked and set up my craft storage room to include soap storage and curing.
